On July 10, 2025, in Rome, during the Ukrainе recovery conference (URC2025), Ukrhydroenergo and one of the world’s leading hydropower companies, Voith Hydro, signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of professional training and skills development. For Ukrhydroenergo, this marks another step in its consistent strategy of investing in the knowledge and competencies of its employees — recognizing that people are the key resource in the recovery, modernization, and strengthening of the reliability of Ukraine’s hydropower sector.

Following large-scale missiles and drones attacks on the company’s facilities that caused severe damage, the need to recover the equipment using modern technologies has become more urgent than ever.
Empowering technical and management specialists with expertise and access to innovations is a critical task for ensuring the stability of the entire energy system.

In June 2025, Ukrhydroenergo carried out its first technical training mission to Voith Hydro’s facilities in Austria and Germany, visiting both the company’s research center and production sites. The program included theoretical modules as well as hands-on «question-and-answer» sessions. Voith Hydro presented its latest technologies and equipment components, many of which can already be adapted to Ukrhydroenergo’s current needs, and reaffirmed its commitment to continued support and training for Ukrainian specialists. Feedback from the participants confirmed that such cooperation is highly effective and should be expanded — both in terms of subject matter and the number of trainees.

To strengthen the company’s focus on training and education, a dedicated working group was established, led by Ukrhydroenergo Supervisory Board Member Steve Walsh. This demonstrates the strategic importance of upskilling and the prioritization of learning processes at the highest level of corporate governance.
