Ukrhydroenergo expands cooperation with Swedfund to Prepare Strategic Energy Projects
On 25 June, during the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026), Ukrhydroenergo signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Swedish development finance institution Swedfund International AB.
The Memorandum establishes a framework for cooperation in the preparation of strategic energy projects. It envisages the development of feasibility studies, deployment of energy storage systems, integration of renewable energy sources, enhancement of power system flexibility and reserve capacity, as well as the preparation of infrastructure solutions to facilitate future international financing.
As Ukraine has been identified as one of Swedfund’s priority countries, this partnership creates additional opportunities to accelerate the preparation and implementation of projects that are essential for strengthening the country’s energy resilience and supporting its recovery.
“For us, it is important not only to restore energy infrastructure, but also to shape the projects of the future today. Cooperation with Swedfund will help accelerate the preparation of modern solutions in the fields of energy storage, renewable energy integration, and the development of a flexible power system. This is an investment in the resilience of Ukraine’s energy sector and its readiness to meet future challenges,” said Bogdan Sukhetskyi, CEO of Ukrhydroenergo.
"We are pleased to enter this cooperation with Ukrhydroenergo. Ukraine's energy system is central to the country's resilience and recovery, and well-prepared projects are essential to attracting financing and moving into implementation. Through the Project Accelerator, Swedfund will contribute to developing the infrastructure solutions Ukraine's power system needs," said Johan Boström Heiskala, Director of Project Accelerator at Swedfund.
