This was stated by Yulia Tolchinina-Burunska, Director of the Legal Department at Ukrhydroenergo, in her speech at London International Disputes Week. She also emphasised the importance of timely and proper recording of damages and providing evidence in litigation against the aggressor country.

Ukrhydroenergo is actively preparing to file lawsuits in the national courts of Ukraine regarding the damage caused by the missile attacks, collecting evidence and assessing damages, including direct damage, loss of profits and costs of protecting hydropower facilities.

Despite the difficulties, the company is confident it will use all possible means to bring Russia to justice. In addition, Ukrhydroenergo's litigation strategy includes applying to international investment arbitration concerning the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP. Restoration of energy facilities is a priority.

As a reminder, the company has already filed a lawsuit with the European Court of Human Rights. Ukrainian diplomats, lawyers, and international partners are working to establish an international compensation mechanism.
