Ukrhydroenergo and JICA discuss prospects for future cooperation

March 11. Ukrainian hydropower engineers met with representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The parties discussed the situation in Ukraine's power system during the ongoing war, in particular, the consequences of numerous enemy attacks on hydropower facilities.

“All our power plants have been damaged by missile and drone attacks. We have an urgent need to find partners to finance critical equipment for the restoration of hydroelectric power plants,” said Maria Bishko, Deputy CEO for Investment Activities and Attracting International Financing.

Representatives of Ukrhydroenergo also spoke about the company's investment projects, emphasizing their priority not only for the energy sector but also for the country as a whole.

For his part, Mr. Kuge Katsuya, Senior Deputy Director General and Team Leader of the Energy and Mining Division of the Infrastructure Management Department JICA, said:

“We are currently exploring the possibility of supporting energy projects in Ukraine, including hydropower projects. We understand that Ukrhydroenergo's primary need is to restore the lost capacity.”
