Ukrhydroenergo Weekly News Digest

On the Espreso TV channel, CEO Igor Syrota discussed how the Hydropower Plants (HPPs) and Pumped Storage Power Plants (PSPPs) of Ukraine are currently supplying electricity to the Integrated Power System (IPS), and expectations for the energy sector's operations during the autumn-winter period.

Despite the challenges of wartime, work on equipment reconstruction and ongoing/planned repairs continue at Ukrhydroenergo's HPPs and PSPPs.

A large-scale maintenance campaign is underway at Ukrhydroenergo's stations as part of the preparation for the autumn-winter period of 2023-2024 and the Restoration Program. Currently, 34 hydro units are under repair.

Since declaring independence, Ukraine has been progressing towards energy independence

The situation at Kakhovska HPP  as of August 25:

The average level of the lower reservoir near the Dnipro HPP dam is 13.79 meters above sea level.

Due to the loss of the Kakhovske Reservoir, we have lost 40% of our freshwater reserves.

The first stage of the Kakhovska Hydroelectric Complex restoration involves designing a temporary reservoir dam. After the de-occupation, this will facilitate the swift initiation of constructing a temporary hydrostructure to dam the reservoir. During flooding, it will help fill the reservoir to the required level.

The Secretariat of the Energy Community and Ukrhydroenergo have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation10:06
