Ukrhydroenergo at the World Economic Forum: creating flexible power systems and the role of AI in optimizing energy processes
On November 6-7, 2024, an event dedicated to clean energy, electrification and grid development took place at the World Economic Forum headquarters in Geneva.
The event, organized by the World Economic Forum, brought together representatives of energy business, civil society and philanthropic organizations to develop a strategy to accelerate energy transformation and identify concrete steps for the implementation of clean energy projects
Ukrhydroenergo was represented at the forum by Valentyn Gvozdiy, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, who took part in panel discussions and roundtables. The creation of flexible power systems capable of managing variable renewable sources and growing demand for electricity, as well as the role of artificial intelligence in optimizing energy processes, were the key topics discussed during the discussions.
The participants paid special attention to hydropower as a basis for stable energy supply and an important component of the development of renewable energy in Ukraine.
In addition, the forum participants discussed the reports of the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the World Economic Forum, which emphasize the importance of effective planning of energy systems, infrastructure and networks to support energy transformation. According to the 'World Energy Outlook 2024' (IEA), growing demand for electricity and decarbonization measures are key factors for a successful transition to green energy. The report “Fostering Effective Energy Transition 2024” (WEF) emphasizes the need to involve all stakeholders in the planning and implementation of new energy solutions, which is critical for Ukraine on its way to energy independence and integration into the European energy market.
