Ihor Syrota: We have significant losses of reconstructed and modernized equipment at Dnipro HPP
CEO Ukrhydroenergo commented on the situation regarding the morning shelling as of 12:00 a.m. on March 22 during the national telethon:
- Emergency services are working at the HPP. The fire has been localized.
- The engine room is full of smoke and it is impossible to allow specialists to enter the site to examine the damage to the hydraulic structure and electrical equipment.
- We test different modes of water release from the upper reservoir.
- By the end of the day, we expect more detailed information on what we managed to save and what capacities we can connect to the unified power system and our further needs for restoration.
- The inadequate response of the international community to the Kakhovka HPP disaster led to the current situation. If there had been rational decisions and sanctions imposed by the international community, the russian army would not have dared to fire missiles at our hydroelectric facilities again.
